1960
Our history
VLACHAKIS company was founded by Dinos Vlachakis in 1960. A specialized agronomist by Davis University in California US, he has been involved for many years in the research on the poultry nutrition and in line with the international developments on eggs’ production. In the years that followed, he introduced new technological innovations, applied new hens’ breeding systems (based on plant food), improved the facilities by applying ventilation systems and substantially contributed to the greek poultry farming growth.
1973
The hens’ breeding for egg production begins in Ypatto Thivas.
1994
Our first barn-laid eggs are launched.
1997
Kalyvia Attikis: We build our first facility for Free Range Egg.
2000
The first Organic Eggs in the Greek market sold; today they make for 30% of our production.
2010
“Choice”: the first Carbon Neutral Eggs in the Greek market.
2013
In a milestone development VLACHAKIS EGGS does away with cages, exceeding the European regulations about bird wellness. Henceforth all our chickens run freely in barns. Today, the Free Range eggs by VLACHAKIS EGGS have a neutral environmental footprint.
